Established in 1998, the ACFE consists of over 85,000 professional fraud investigators in about 200 branches throughout the world. The title of certified fraud examiner (CFE) awarded by the association is an internationally recognized qualification held in high regard by U.S. institutions such as the Government Accountability Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pentagon.
